1. Who gave you your name? / What’s the origin of your name?

Answer: My name is named after a famous figure who my parents really admire and they really hope that I can turn out to be exactly like her in the future. So yeah, I guess both of them agreed upon the name.

(Tên của tôi được đặt theo tên của một người nổi tiếng mà bố mẹ tôi rất ngưỡng mộ và họ mong tôi có thể lớn lên trở thành một người giống bà ý. Vì vậy tôi đoán là cả bố mẹ đã đồng ý đặt cái tên này.)

2. Do you think your name is special?

Answer: Actually, the name [……] is fairly common in my country. You would be pretty surprised at how many girls here are named [….]. But, in a sense, this name is special to me because my parents gave it to me and it will stay with me for my whole life.

(Thực sự cái tên …. khá phổ biến ở nước của tôi. Bạn sẽ khá ngạc nhiên khi rất nhiều cô gái ở Việt Nam được đặt cái tên này. Tuy nhiên tên này khá đặc biệt với tôi bởi vì bố mẹ tôi đã đặt nó và tôi sẽ dùng nó suốt cuộc đời.)

3. Do you like your name?

Answer: Definitely yes! It’s a simple, yet meaningful name to me. Say if you ask me whether I would like to change my name into another one, my answer would be a big no.

(Chắc chắn là có rồi. Cái tên này thực sự đơn giản nhưng rất có ý nghĩa với tôi. Nếu bạn hỏi tôi có muốn thay đổi tên hay không thì chắc chắn tôi sẽ nói không.)

4. What do your friends call you?

Answer: It really depends. Most of my close friends prefer to call me by my nickname [……] Meanwhile, others just use my first name.

(Thực sự tùy tình huống. Hầu hết bạn bè thân thiết của tôi thích gọi tôi là [……] Trong khi đó những người khác chỉ gọi tôi bằng tên thật.)

5. Did your family have a certain (nick) name that they called you when you were a child?

Answer: When I was born, I had been crying for more than 2 hours. Therefore, my parents decided to call me Crocodile, which turned out to be my nickname afterward. It was such a funny name which still makes me embarrassed when my parents call my nickname in front of my friends.

(Khi tôi sinh ra tôi đã khóc liên tục suốt hai giờ đồng hồ. Chính vì thế bố mẹ đã quyết định gọi tôi là “Cá sấu” và đây là biệt danh của tôi về sau. Cái tên này khá hay và hài hước, đôi khi làm tôi xấu hổ khi bố mẹ tôi gọi biệt danh này trước bạn bè tôi.)
